The Steps

Phase 1:Concept Formation

  1. Give the students the data set (at times students may bring their own data set)
  2. Classify the data set into groups looking at common attributes
  3. Name the groups

Phase 2: Interpretation

Students :

  1. Compare the groups of data set identifying the similarities and differences
  2. Explore the relationships between them

Phase 3: Application

  1. Look for concepts that emerge: Ask what does this mean?
  2. Make hypotheses and predictions: What would happen if . . .
  3. Find how the items are useful in life.
